BREASTFEEDING FOOD
Breastfeeding is a wonderful and natural thing. I have learned in practice that breastfeeding can drain your energy and will make you hungry.
I remember how stressed I was trying to figure out what to do to produce more milk. What to eat to keep baby happy and to start loosing pregnancy weight at the same time. Nobody told me. It was like a well-kept secret. Well, I will share with you what I have learned.
My goal is to guide you to a healthier eating that will help you naturally and safely loose weight while you are breastfeeding.
Here is a list of 5 foods that will stimulate milk production:
- Water – as simple as it can be. The more you drink the more you will get. Don’t worry; you don’t have to force yourself into anything. Nature is smart and after labour, you will be naturally craving for drinks. You will feel thirsty all the time. Good, take advantage of that. The best is clear, natural water or water with added fruits. You can also drink natural juices.
2. Oatmeal – are you feeling like having flashback from childhood when your mom was trying to feed you oats porridge? Yes, she knew that it is good and nutritious. Try to avoid any flavoured oats and choose simple plain ones. You can have them with roasted fruits for example like peaches.
Oats will help you to lover cholesterol, regulate your blood sugar and will help you to relax. When you are more relaxed and calm it increases milk production.
- Salmon – fatty acids and Omega 3 is highly nutritious for breast feeding mothers and they help you to produce even more milk. Make sure you get your fish from checked source.
- Rice – especially brown, contains lots of substances which helps you to boost your energy levels. Dear moms, I have to tell you rice is amazing food for regulating mood swings, lactation and appetite. Moreover, is weight loss friendly.
- Nuts – they are a good source of nutrition and energy. It is safe to add few of almonds, walnuts or cashew to your breakfast, salad or fruit smoothie. I am still heaving them every day now. For me they are coffee replacement. Much healthier, stronger and slim body friendly.
