High Protein Waffles with Home-made Strawberry Ice-creams
Original Belgian Waffles are high in sugar, FAT and carbs. Together with toppings and the entire extra, you may be consuming calorie bomb.
It may taste good but it is metabolism killer.
I would never intentionally eat it myself or gave it to my kids. Especially the ones you can buy during summer in most of coffee shops and bakeries.
Despite all of that I like them, as they bring childhood memories, that taste and smell of summer days.
With this in my mind (plus major pregnancy craving) I decided to dust my waffle maker and created pregnancy friendly, high in protein version of waffles.
I swear they taste even better than original ones.
Here is how to make them.
Ingredients;
- 1scoop vanilla protein powder
- 2 tbsp coconut flower
- 1 whole egg
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ cup lactose free milk ( I am not tolerating lactose so it is my choice but you are free to use coconut milk)
- 1 tbsp white honey
Directions;
- use any FAT of your choice on your waffle maker iron ( i Am using coconut oil)
– In bowl mix all dry ingredients of waffle first, then slowly keep adding milk. While doing that keep whisking so there are no crumps
– Whisk until smooth and on the end add honey
– When waffle iron is hot place in the middle of it some batter spreading it evenly on whole surface
– keep it closed until your waffle turn crispy and golden brown
I am serving mine with home-made ice creams (strawberry).
You can find recipe for them here;

Skinny 3-ingredients strawberry ice-creams

- Take a large pot and fill it ½ way with water
- Find bowl small enough to fit into your pot with water. When water boils, your bowl will heat up warming up strawberries.
- Add honey into your strawberries and mix together
- You can squash strawberries with fork so its juice could blend nicely with honey.
- That prepared strawberries place into blender, add bananas and blend for about 4 minutes
- Blending it for longer, makes its texture lighter and creamier.
- Pour mixture into food container/box and put into freezer for long enough to firm up.
- Make sure it’s not staying in the freezer for long as it will freeze solid.
- Serve immediately as a real ice cream.
Sprinkle all with fresh strawberry juice. serve with fresh strawberries.
